Re: Thanks guys ...

I see that. Odd... I checked it before I posted and it was fine. Something went awry afterwards. Oh well... not much content there anyway. Let's see....

You asked if most people posted on these threads to gain information or to score points. Most come to score points, of course. This is not the place to gain much in the way of information, unless one is Andy19191 looking for info on audiophile "beliefs". Scientific info is hard to come by, mostly because the objectivists make statements and then ask us to "look it up". It's hard to get a handle on the objectivist POV because the obs rarely make a statement that isn't an indictment of someone else's comment rather than a straightforward piece of info. Occasionally someone comes through with some specific articles or books to read which are helpful. You have done that yourself. But there is little of any real information around here. There's plenty of hand-waving, insults, pretentiousness and argumentation, though.

You also said that the "casual reader" would be put off by the subjectivist POV. Let me ask you one of those hypothetical "pretend you are this" type questions. IF you were a casual reader, which POV would turn you off more:

A. If you want to know if this component sounds different in your system, I recommend that you go and audition it.
B. This component cannot possibly sound different. There is an absolute truth in audio and perceptions are invalid.

In other words, would you (as a casual reader, most likely a newbie) prefer to be told how to think or what to think?
