Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Yes, subjectivists are most likely dominated by the effects of bias for electronics and especially wires

If audiophiles HAVE TO know the brand names in use, and HAVE TO compare two components playing at different volumes, to hear differences nearly all the time ... but often have no clue when the brand names are hidden and volumes are matched, then it IS logical to assume that sighted auditions used by any audiophiles for electronics and wires are most likely dominated by biases.

In sighted auditions of electronics and wires, people who are currently objective audiophiles have biases too.

Even after learning more about their hearing ability though blind auditions, objective audiophiles can easily mistake 0.5 to 2dB SPL differences, or channel balance differences, to be meaningful sound quality differences in sighted comparisons ... just like subjective audiophiles.

"Golden Ears" seem to be a fantasy that can never be proven even though many audiophiles would like to prove how well they hear to others. But I guess it's more fun to pretend one has golden ears than to test oneself and discover reality.

Knowing the brands in use, and listening to components playing at different volumes, adds absolutely no value to an audition.
