Type 2 errors are not possible with blind tests. Leventhal was completely wrong about Type 2 errors which do not exist!

Type 2 errors would be errors made when stating A-B differences are inaudible, when in fact they are audible.

Blind tests are never used to prove inaudibility of differences.
If any blind test participant claims his test proves these two components sound the same, then he is merely jumping to conclusions.

Blind tests are only used to prove audibility of differences, with less than 5% Type 1 error, that were previously claimed to be audible by at least some participants using the same equipment in a sighted warm-up audition minutes earlier.

Type 2 errors, therefore, are impossible in audio blind tests.

The test results apply to the participants and the stereo used, usually with 95% or higher reliability.

Test results are evidence that real GOLDEN EARS do not exist.

So far we have over three decades of evidence from independent tests that real golden ears are not common among audiophiles, and may not exist at all.
