1.a) Yes some people are aware enough to realize such distractions can and do occur.b.) Why would you disagree with this position? It's their opinion and what they believe - they just don't care if their decisions are influenced by non-audio influences. Good for them!
c.) Now there are those like you who believe they are not influenced by non-audio factors. This is your belief/opinion but since you refuse to compare components it's not a fact. Those of us in group a deal with facts, those in group b don't care about facts.
And since you don't deal with the facts you belong in group b. Whatever your reason for not "caring" enough to know for sure that you are being influenced or not is irrelevant.
Anyone audiophile can recognize live music when they hear it. Why do you contend that you have an exceptional ability to recognize live sound when you hear it?
I've never heard live sound coming out of a stereo. Yea you bet I'd need special training to think an audio system sounds like live music - and that's some special training I'll bypass in a heartbeat.
I'm glad you feel so well about these special skills - both recognizing which components sound like live music and avoiding all factors which may influence your listening session.

2.) Whatever? As far a "dealing with it" goes Tom I don't mind your posts at all.

3.) A closet objectivist it is!

However Don your need to keep refering to me as being "special" whenever you disagree with my POV is not something I will or have to tolerate.
Please Tom you've told us
1.) You have recieved extra training inorder to better identify which components sound like live music. Well I've never heard a single component, much less a system that sounded like live music (for more than a brief moment - but even then I was being fooled). In fact I don't think such systems exist. But you've been trained to recognize them? That's special!
2.) You have told us you are not influenced by non-audio factors when evaluating comments. I believe either someone cares that they may be influenced or they don't care. You simply don't care to know if you are being influenced because you know you aren't. I think that's special too!
So yea Tom I think you are special - in fact you've told us so yourself. You don't like being special then maybe you ought to quit acting like you are.
Give me rhythm or give me death!
