Re: we don't have the same hearing priorities

Listening to music is an intrinsically aesthetic process. As such, different people have different priorities about what is important to their listening experience. That is true in many areas of our life. For example, some guys like BMWs and others like muscle cars.

Specifications are an imminently useful tool, but hardly perfect. First, they are often static measurements while music is dynamic in nature. Second, a particularly impressive spec may not correlate with the item that impresses me or you. Having a 500 horsepower engine may be undeniably more powerful than a 300 HP one, but if I'm impressed by road feel and cornering ability, horsepower isn't going to tell me if a car is going to suit me. In fact, it may well be the extra weight of a more powerful engine is the very thing that ends up robbing a car of the extra handling responsiveness I like.

Even gazillion dollar speakers, amps and other pieces of equipment are imperfect, so there is always a trade off being made somewhere. The goal is to find a system that has performance capabilities prioritized in the same order that you find important to your listening.
