Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Re: You're fast!

Hey Kerr,

I agree that preferring solid state isn't a crime. I have a wonderful solidstate integrated amp, an Audio Analoge Puccini that I love. Kerr as I read your response I find myself agreeing and disagreeing with different parts of your posts.

My main point in all this is I don't believe that what is presently being measured via the machines used, accurately correlates or represents what the ear/brain combo uses to determine what represents is live music. Thus until we know how the ear/brain combo determines what is and isn't live music. We'll never know what to measure to determine if an amp, preamp, LP, or CD etc. will sound more like live music when compared to another component when the ear/brain combo is the standard. I personally don't care if a machine measures a given audio component and then determines it sounds more like live music than another component. Machines don't do the listening for me, do they? I believe in science. I believe one day scientists will fiqure out what and how to measure what the ear/brain combo uses to determine what is and isn't live music. I believe scientists will discover that what is often refered to as euphonic or whatever other terms one cares to use, will actually represent more of a purist approach. That is, when one uses what the ear/brain combo uses to determine what is and isn't live music as the reference standard and not some machine! Of course for now these are ONLY MY OPINIONS. You, as well as everyone else here are free to believe as you will. These are my beliefs and I don't ask or require anyone else agree with them and I definitely don't want to argue over them

As always my best --- Thetubeguy1954
