Don,1) I understand perfectly that there are beliefs that music lovers/audiophiles have.
a) There are those who care that non-audio factors may influence their decision. Why? because it has in the past! Thus these folks really need to minimize these influences, because it could possibly influence their decision again.
b) There are those who don't care that non-audio factors may influence their descision, as long as they believe that an improvement, NOT just a difference is heard. Why? because they've been mislead (IMHO) by others who claim ---There's no right or wrong in audio, there's only what you prefer---- I don't understand this postion or POV and disagree completely with it!
c) There are those like me, who know they're not effected by such influences. Why? because I've/we've trained our ears with years of exposure to live music. Thus I/we know if and when a component "sounds" like live music. However this does NOT make me/us special as you claim we are. In fact even Peter Aczel said: "The Golden Ears want you to believe that their hearing is so keen, so exquisite, that they can hear tiny nuances of reproduced sound too elusive for the rest of us. Absolutely not true anyone without actual hearing impairment can hear what they hear, but only those with training and experience know what to make of it, (and) how to interpret it."
See Don even Peter Aczel, the ultimate Objectivist, readily admits ability this is NOT a special ability, but rather a learned talent. The only people who label this as a special form of super-hearing are those who haven't taken the time for the training and experience to know what to make of it or how to interpet it. Thus because they cannot do it, they feel anyone else who claims they can, is fooling themselves, or somehow allowing other non-audio factors to influence their decision. Why? because for this group of naysayers that would be the reason why they hear a difference, because the haven't yet taken the time for the training and experience to know what to make of it or how to interpet it. You can disagree if you choose to, but that's the fact of the matter, it's not my opinion.

2) I've made it perfectly clear to you previously when I didn't state my opinions were my opinions I was jumped on by many people for stating my opinions as if they were facts. Now when I do state my opinions were my opinions only YOU and a couple of others here get offended or feel that's off-putting or you're being addressed as a bunch of idiots. So for me, it's a matter of which style offends the least amount of people and stating my opinions are my opinions gets the least amount slack. So I'm sorry but you'll have to deal with this issue. That said, I do agree with you that anyone who would think my comments on anything were anything other than my opinion (unless I state differently) in the first place is an strange bird. I would think, like you do, that this is quite obvious. Unfortunately to many people it wasn't.

3.)Finally Don I understood 100% what you meant in regards to point # 3. I know that if/when scientists ever prove my POV correct, it will then become an objective, measurable specification. If you feel that somehow makes me a closet-objectivist, so be it! What you obviously didn't get was up until that day occurs and science catchs up and proves my opinion correct, it will remain only an opinion, mine!Don I want to end this by saying I don't care if you do or don't agree with my opinions and POVs. Different POV are what makes the world go round. Otherwise we'd all be using either tubed or solid state amps. However Don your need to keep refering to me as being "special" whenever you disagree with my POV is not something I will or have to tolerate. I'll reiterate for you what I said in a previous post. I see this as a form of belittling, desparaging, insulting berating me for disagreeing with your POV, as oppposed to intelligently discussing our different POV. These day I refuse to do any sort of communicating on audio forums except intelligent debates/discussions/arguements. If you choose to continue replying to me this way, I'll stop responding to your posts. I will not, however be lured into name-calling contest with you, sorry.
