Even an unlimited, budget doesn't cure the problem. Those guys often trade in and out of equipment faster than us little guys. Even when talking about the super high end, you'll often see a review wistfully refer to some other piece of equipment that did one or two little things better.
The corollary of this is when you or I do find a system that matches with the priorities we find necessary for realism, we become willing to overlook many other deficiencies. The systems strong points (for us) transport us to the imaginary kingdom of realism in spite of the faults. Stick someone else in front of the same system and all they hear are the weak points, so they don't even get to realism's first base.
