Goodness, Gracious!

Y'all can show, pretty easily, how amplitude distortion turns into phase distortion. Been a while since I did that, but any basic DSP book can show y'all how.

What y'all find out is that the loss of phase information is just the same as if noise was added, and that it's way, way, below the sources of phase irregularities from other sources.

If y'all look back here, a common complaint about PCM is that y'all can't represent many phases at high frequencies, or that y'all can't get good time resolution at high frequencies. Even a teeny examination shows this is wrong. I think there's even an FAQ around here that shows it graphically, but I don't remember where.

DSD is just another kind of PCM, by the way.
