The third and and perhaps fifth order harmonic components are probably related to the lsb quantization error. The measured even order components are probably the result of the system noise floor and difference tone quantization byproducts filtered by the spectrum analyzer window aperture.

This would be only the expected situation with a continuous sine wave, not music.


Btw, I have to disagree in the case of vinyl with "In other words, you will not be listening to much at –60-dB on vinyl or digital except possibly for very quiet passages in classical music." from the link you provided.

If that were true, vinyl imaging (and sonic accuracy) would markedly deteriorate on quiet passages in the same manner that redbook digital does. I have no problem perceiving image detail 90db or more below the peak recordable level on good quality vinyl pressings based on a max 115 db spl at my listening seat and an angular stereo imaging precision within 5 degrees laterally 60 db below that.
