Noise shaping and dither are two entirely separate things. One is the addition of (perhaps shaped) noise before quantization.The other is a feedback method that shapes the spectrum of the quantization noise, itself.
Would you like to regale us, now, about which is which?
For some information on this issue, I have seen a presentation, but you won't like it, because was given at an AES convention by the person y'all imagine I am.
Interested or not?
While you're at it, what's the difference between an alias and a harmonic, sport?
