You would do well, not to impugn our motives for trying to understand the 'chip'. I'm curious, that's all. Geoff isn't deliberately lying about anything, and it is insulting that you imply that he is doing so.
Do we REALLY know what the chip is? NO! Is it for real? Seems so. Many people have heard it make a difference. Are they imagining it? Maybe. But then, so might be John Atkinson when he hears a difference between power amps. Do I trust John Atkinson's assessment of the Quad 405? Yes, because I know the design and its limitations. Can I prove John Atkinson right? NO, I can only agree with him.
This is the way it works folks. Audio is one area where the usual rules of design engineering are not quite enough. That's why I chuckle when I see diligent amateurs trying to make a better amplifier, cheaply. It happens on DIYaudio.com all the time. I just shrug and hope for some more interesting input from time to time.
