How can dissenting views be fairly self-moderated...common sense?

Firsr of all, I think that Propeller Head Plaza is an appropriate site for 'The church of the chip', its distracters, and bemused onlookers.

Converse to your opinion, I think that the emotions that this issue has stirred could establish your responses in this thread as insulting the intelligence of opposing views. Would you can consider that thread hijacking? Perhaps you're referring to something more obvious.
