Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

"... for the alleged effects on CDs' physical structure..."

It may be the other way around, at least in one instance. In the 30 comparisons I did with GSIC-30, my ears registered "a difference I can hear" for most, a couple were "too close to call", and one was an unqualified "no difference" (for the curious, it was the "Star Trek" track on Telarc's Jerry Goldsmith Film Music SACD). But in the latter case, the chip was abnormally warm to the touch when I removed it from my player immediately after "treating" the disc, an anomaly not noted with any of the other 29 "treatments" (and this occurred early in the comparison cycle). Seems that if there was a "transfer" of any sort, it was heat to the _chip_.

In any event, my bottom-line conclusion was that in the instances where I heard a difference it was _at best_ equivalent to what I hear when black- or green-lining a disc's edges...and considerably less cost-effective from a cost-per-unit-treated perspective. So on that basis alone I don't recommend it.
