sgb, Note i was only referring to the inadequacy of CD to convey classical and acoustic jazz music in a high end equipment context. With electrically amplified, studio mixed and processed sources, such as most pop, rock, country and electric jazz fusion, CD sounds most adequate as these styles don't feature as wide or as subtle a range of tone colour, dynamic nuance and complex textures as acoustic jazz and Classical.
Please let us know which CD source on earth can reproduce PCM 16/44 CD recordings of orchestral music or big band jazz with as much realism, depth, drama, presence, explosive dynamics, expression, subtle of touching/bowing/blowing and colour as SACD recordings on even a 1st generation SACD player such as an SCD-1!!!
