Otherwise I can't imagine how anyone could reach such a conclusion. I have many CDs that don't sound harsh through my player, but many more that do. I think that on balance, anyone intending to record for SACD release would likely be more astute managers of the entire recording process and so would likely produce a better engineered product.On the other hand, given that such a vastly wider range of recordings appear on CD that not only weren't originally intended for that format, but were recorded by people running the gamut from quick buck hucksters to artists preserving art for posterity, it's only natural that any blanket statement of preference would have to favor SACD....regardless of the fact it's a higher resolution format.
In other words, the odds are stacked against CD on multiple fronts, but that wouldn't have any bearing on which format actually holds the best music.
