. . .which is why I have 6000+ CDs (including a great deal of arcane music)and only about 350 SACDs. But I am in DkB's camp when it comes to my frequent inability to enjoy the music because of poor/average recordings. Although I have a fairly expensive system, I am not a gearhead; all I want is to sit in my listening chair and enjoy the experience of music. But too often, even in music that I dearly love, I simply can't get past the recording quality and through to the music. Well-recorded SACDs have certainly improved the situation.Although you undoubtedly enjoy music recorded with high fidelity, you are apparently one of those lucky audiophiles that can quickly move past less-than-stellar recording quality and simply enjoy the music. I am envious of this skill and perhaps one day I will learn it. And yes, I also have some CDs of the Arditti String Quartet.
