Great sound has always been a relative rarity. Forget format. In the LP days, some LPs sounded great, most did not. And as an owner of many SACDs, I know that many of them are not great sounding either. I have never understood and never will understand how people can ignore great music because the fidelity is poor. I listen to many CDs, last night I listened to Scandinavian music from the always interesting Arditti String Quartet. And it was fantastic. You will never hear this music. That is, IMO, your loss.
