I could keep them playing for any length of time. It is only mechanical reasons I don't have SACD; sound quality on SACD is superb with the right equipment! However I have never been able to tolerate the abysmal terrible sound quality of CDs, NEVER! And I have tried everything I can think to rid them of there terrible grating sound. I prefer the sound of 8 Track Cartridge to CDs even with all of its wow and flutter.
Why you keep defending a totally unlistenable format is beyond me, maybe you have a higher tolerance of pain than I do. You are a real enigma with this sad devotion to 44.1kHz CDs.
There is one exception though, Reference Recordings has removed much of the additive distortion of Redbook with their HDCDs properly decoded of course. The strings on Reference Recordings HDCDs are not painful. Neither are the strings on any other format except for that sorry excuse of a format CD.
