New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

I do get it . . . .

Hello Tunenut, I have to explain. I agree that there is lots of great music that's not on SACD. I have a large collection of rare contemporary private CD recordings in my office that I refer to. They include CD recordings of my works as well. I listen to them on a moderate system comprising LS3/5a speakers and a Rega integrated.

Since you mentioned Scandinavian music, a Swedish Professor from Gothenburg just gave me a 3-CD collection of new music from Sweden entitled "Nordic Whispers." I enjoyed listening to it. So I have nothing against listening to CD per se.

I would not play these CDs on my home hi-fi system though. I have come to expect a high standard of sound from this system, and these CDs just cannot do justice to the amps and speakers. For me, CD quality sound negates and invalidates their advanced design, at a fundamental level. So all I am saying is, if all we had was CD, I would not invest in an advanced sound system as CD quality sound does not justify it.

One would not consider purchasing a $20,000 speakers to listen to radio broadcasts and MP3. However, it does not mean one does not listen to radio and MP3 using the appropriate medium.

Hope you get it now, and agree somewhat!!
