Phil, I don't appreciate your talking about me. You know who I am, we have spoken together at CES. What is your problem?
I don't know what I can say about ANYTHING in audio, except that I tend to make pretty good audio equipment and I am known internationally for it. Making good audio designs is not just 'luck'. No, it takes skill and understanding of what is necessary to make a really outstanding piece of audio equipment. It is also important to know ones own limitations, and to delegate responsibility for parts of the design to others when practical, to someone who is better qualified. That is why I don't do my own layouts.
Now when it comes to audio measurements, I have been seriously measuring audio equipment for decades. I also have my own test equipment. It may not be perfect or the absolutely latest stuff, but it still works pretty well for me and I stand behind my measurements, even today, until someone, somewhere, can show me where I have overlooked something. No, SE and Jneutron have NOT shown me the 'error' in my measurements, but I am still open to any serious input. I don't want to waste my time either, if my measurements are actually flawed.
When it comes to physics, I find that REALLY UNDERSTANDING current flow is fantastically complex. It's true that I have not put in the requisite extra years of study to completely understand what I read in advanced graduate physics texts well enough to teach it to others, but I certainly have some idea of the conclusions formed at the end of each chapter at least, and this is far more than anyone else on this website, except Jon Risch, has bothered to know or understand.
The problem is this: We, who are the principal audio designers in this industry, know from listening experience that cables, connectors, board layout, etc are very important to successful sound systems, BUT we don't usually know exactly why. When we try to explore advanced physics to find some sort of answers, we are shouted down by this group. Why, I don't know. If you have some better answers, let's hear them.
