"Phil, let's stay on topic here. Exactly what does the post in question add to the discussion of cables? It's a blantant dismissal of any cable effect and it isn't in the spirit of the Cable Asylum. I would have done the same thing that Ted did which is to close the post."I'm happy to stay on topic. That post at CA did not dismiss any cable effect. In fact, his last statement was: "Need better sound? Spend 5000 bucks on new speakers, and wire them with a good cable." Apparently mrkiko believes there are "good" and "bad" cables. Someone asked about breaking in cables, and mrkido simply stated his position that break-in doesn't have any effect.
Are you telling me that if someone asks advice on something like breaking in cables at CA, no one is allowed to respond with his own belief that breakin doesn't improve cables? Is it the spirit of CA that only a narrow range of opinions are allowed when someone asks for advice?
But my comments go to the broader problem that Tony identifies (properly, I believe) in his opening post here - that of the double standard. The particular post he referenced was but an example.
"Cables was set up to be a sanctuary for those that do believe that cables make a difference."
Where is that stated? Where do you fairly warn new-comers that they will only be allowed to receive advice on cables at CA from people who believe cables make a difference. None of that is even remotely hinted at in your description of the anti-DBT rule.
T"hose that want to discuss cables from a perspective that they do make a difference agree with that decision. Others don't. If you see that as a double standard, so be it."
If that were all there was to it, I wouldn't have a problem. But when objective claims and scientific theories are advanced, then I take issue with limiting the discussion to only one side. I believe that you are intentionally setting up CA to be a source of erroneous information. Not everyone can be right about everything. And if objective claims can be made as if they represent the undisputed truth and scientific explanations can be advanced as if they are the final answer or are consistent with well established general scientific principles without any chance of being subjected to critique (as is now the case at CA), then you are virtually guananteeing that erroneous information will be disseminated. If you can sleep at night knowing that you are a party to that, then you are a much different person than I thought you were.
"It strikes me that you want to continually dredge up the past."
Steve's ban, and the lies that are being told to justify it, are on-going. Jon's behavior as a moderator is on-going.
"BTW: To my knowledge, Jon hasn't posted at AR in nearly a year. Again, let's talk about now."
I didn't mention AR.
