I got back from a listening session at a friends place trying to sort out the synergy of specific power chords with different interconnect. I had another one of those moments (again) when I looke over at my friend at he said exactly what I was thinking...Jon is right, again.Curious as to what Jon was up to on Asylum, I track him down to this recent posts on, you guess it, cables. It is not strange that I find Steve Eddy baiting Jon, again, with quotes of Jon taken on of context. The use of this tool (quoting) given the guise of open communication but more often than not, a poor imitation. I always find it interesting that Steve's reply is longer tha the quote of Jon's. I guess I better watch myself cause Steve will probably reply with a quote that is shorter than yours truly. Jon on the other hand shows great restraint and keeps his answers short and to the point. Why do you bother replying, John...one lost soul is not worth it.
I think if it came down to a poll asking people on asylum as to who should take a long walk on a short pier? ...I'm sure I could guess the result ahead of time.
The simple truth Jon is I do not understand why you bother to reply to the baiting. They are just "grandstanding". Both you and John Curl work as professionals in the industry and as consultants. You have a body of work that can take the unitiated and show them the way and are not shy about revealing paper references. You have commercial products too your name that are widely accepted. There are companies that take your cable recipes and earn a decent living. I know guys are human but more times than not I find you are correct and my personal experience are that you have been right in the longer run.
You guys would make great managers who sometimes need to make decisions that fall in the grey areas. But nine out of ten times, I think people would respect the science behind your conclusions. The grandstanding aspect of all of this is like the person on the side that takes a "jab" at some new grand unified theory at a physics symposium. The person presenting has to get all of it right or figured out...meanwhile the person on the side comes up to the mic to ask a question about "...I think that fuscia coloured object is really "pink" . So with all the time Steve spends baiting you, I think he better off doing the following two things:
- Put down his observations and recommendations on Cables down once on his own web page.
- Take a vote/poll on who the Cable Asylum group would like to have as moderator. My experience is that Jon runs a forum that gives poster's the benefit of the doubt and does not unduly power trip. Of couse baiting him constantly will force him to take on some of Steve's personality traits on a temporary basis...what goes around comes around.
