People want to talk about these issues and they want to postulate their theories without being subjected to an inquisition. What's the point of postulating a theory--particularly on a public forum--if not for the purpose of subjecting it to scrutiny with the hope that such scrutiny will ultimately reveal whether or not the theory is sound?
If not for that purpose, then for what purpose, Rod? Just to impress the chicks who dig a guy who can postulate theories? What?
The decision was reviewed recently and we came to the same decision. Personally, I like Steve, though I wish he'd get rid of the DIYAudio tag. OTOH, I also think that he loves to argue. Put him and Jon or John together and you get tons of arguments that go nowhere. If Steve and Jon can work out their differences between themselves and submit a plan to the Bored for coexistence in Cables, then I'm sure we'd lift the ban. That hasn't happened. The ban on Steve was related to continued contentious behavior. It's that simple.
Then Rod, as I've said before, you need to eliminate or change Audio Asylum's Rule G.
G. Debate about audio, even when heated, is encouraged. This is not about censorship.
Either change it to:
G. Debate about audio, especially when heated, is discouraged. This is about censorship.
Or just remove it completely because it's quite simply false advertising.
Here's the definition of "debate" from Webster's Ninth Collegiate:
debate : a contention by words or arguments
Hmmm. Contention? Arguments?
Lemme see, why was it I was banned? Oh, yeah. For being contentious and arguing.
So, I was banned for engaging in that which AUDIO ASYLUM'S OWN RULES SPECIFICALLY STATE IS ENCOURAGED HERE!
Can you say with a straight face that you see NO hypocrisy in this whatsoever?
Oh, and as for:
If Steve and Jon can work out their differences between themselves and submit a plan to the Bored for coexistence in Cables, then I'm sure we'd lift the ban.
I tried to put an end to this a couple years ago by offering to not say anything to or about Jon either directly or indicrectly. My only condition was that Jon reciprocate.
Here's how Jon reciprocated:
You are a disgrace to the industry and to mankind.
I made no such 'bargain' with you regarding posts. I do not know where you got this idea, no doubt a result of your
wondeful comprehension. Your recent propoganda campaign regarding me has been brought to light, and I have been made aware
of it. I have also been made aware of other activites on your part regarding me.
Rest assured that if these activites continue or go any further, I will seek and take the full action of the law and obtain
all recourse I have at my disposal. So tell you what, let me repeat my offer. Put it before The Board and let them decide whether to tell me to go piss up a rope or tell Jon to grow some balls, be a man, and accept the offer.
