"Todays accepted standard tests for measuring." Accepted by whom? There's the problem!

Such tests are not "accepted" so much as they are "received", as in "received wisdom". A fellow is born, gets educated, and if he is of a certain turn of character he believes utterly in what he has been taught -- for instance, that a certain package of response and distortion measurements describe the situation completely.

And if he is of a certain further turn of character, he proceeds to teach that received wisdom to others.

Given people with those immutable traits, we will never see the day when total open-mindedness in science exists. Right now I'm reading a book about how Sir Arthur Eddington sneered so viciously, so continuously at the young man who first posited "black holes", that that explanation was suppressed from general knowledge for nearly forty years.

That's how those people operate, and those people will always be among us, lording it over us. One can only work around them, never with them.
