And a non-nullable but flat GD is not equivalent to a 'quality factor', either.

The point is that GD can and often will significantly reduce the effectivness of a null test for amplifiers if the intent is to discern 'quality'. For instance, I own a very well regarded Class D amplifier that has an audio band group delay of up to several tens of microseconds depending on frequency. How would it fare in a null test? Not so well, but no reasonable person would rate it lower in audible quality on that basis.

Also, to get the lowest possible GD, I read David Hafler deliberately compromised the stability under load of the amps under test. Higher 'quality factor' because of a deeper null? I think not if the amp is marginally stable into tough loads.
