This Is The Whole Problem

Soundmind, When you said: "But most tube amplifiers are not accurate, at least not by measurement standards most commonly used." you summed up what the whole problem is in a nutshell!

I've owned very highend solidtstate audio components in the past. As good as they were and some were VERY, VERY good, they couldn't hold a candle to my current SET amp, at least not in terms of reproducing music realistically. There's just something that's more organic or more complete to the music an SET amp replicates, that I've never personally heard a solidstate amp replicate.

Mr Cheevers said "There exists general agreement that the commonly accepted test and measurement protocols for audio frequency power amplifiers fail to correlate with the subjectively accessed devices sound quality." This agrees with what I've stated many times before i.e. IMHO we are NOT using measurements that correctly correlates with how the human ear/brain combo decides what sounds realistic and what doesn't.

Owning an SET amp has made that plainly obvious to me. The fact that most tube amplifiers are "not accurate" at least not by measurement standards most commonly used, only goes to further enforce my beliefs as being correct!

And no matter how much you (whom I respect for your civility) Real JJ, Pat D, Dan Banquer and Richard BassNut Greene say differently, until you can prove my statement/belief incorrect, I'll continue to believe it.
