My point is that some modestly priced DACs have as good if not better jitter rejection than other very expensive ones. This is clearly seen, for instance, in the Stereophile measurements of the Benchmark DAC, just to give one example. I do not think you are fully characterizing the jitter rejection mechanism employed by the Benchmark, and to my knowledge they do not disclose exactly what it is. I understand it uses a buffer and probably some modified PLL. That can work quite well in practice, as it does on the Lavry units. The second point is that for all intents and purposes this makes the transport almost irrelevant. people who want to spend a fortune on transports can do so but I personally don't see the need.
