You know Steve you could always use both the digital coax and optical output of your dvd player. Use one for your Dac and the other into your HT receiver. Yes the transport does make a difference. I would say more like 50% of the difference. Just add one of the outboard jitter/signal conditioners(Genesis Digital Lens, Monarchy DIP or GW Labs DSP) on your Dac side..you'll understand.
