Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Why is minimizing preconceived expectations "extra difficulties"?

“a true DBT situation automatically leads to extra difficulties for the listener”

If anything removing expectation biases is LESS burden on the listener. There’s one less variable to interfere with the listener’s evaluation.

You’re starting off with a blank piece of paper instead of one already partially etched by prior suggestion. We’re not going to tell you anything what to expect in the evaluation – you simply tell us what you hear or don’t hear.

Interesting that your arguments sound EXACTLY like those defensive smokescreens given by charlatan paranormals to why their psychic claims always fail any controlled test.

-- Testing leads to stress so my psychic (audiophile) powers unfortunately don’t work when tested.

-- Since tests always fail to support my incredible psychic (audiophile) claims – that means controlled tests are invalid and flawed.

-- Divert attention away from my complete inability to prove my psychic (audiophile) claim by trashing those who ask for proof: “mindless mantra of pseudo-science”, “objectivist figurehead”, “complete absense of critical thinking “, “naysayer” etc.

Audiophiles claim to have highly developed listening skills – if we hear the details with prior knowledge we should also hear the same details without. I believe we can do both.
