McAttack makes 3 statements and 2 are blatantly untrue (probably par for the course given his trade?), May Belt's posting is incomprehensible (so what are you agreeing with?) and Dave simply suggests giving up. The reason for the disinformation from the first two can be determined by following the M after their name. Dave at least is probably trying to be honest although I believe his advice is not constructive.

Were they actually disagreeing with your perceptions or disagreeing with an assertion on you part that the cables were responsible for changing the sound rather than your perception of the sound? The two are not the same and I rather suspect they were disagreeing with the former (probably valid depending on the details) and not the latter (probably invalid depending on the details).

Why not try to be constructive and make the effort yourself rather than expecting them to make the effort? Here is an example of an audiophile making some effort to address the concerns of his audience:

http://groups.google.com/group/uk.rec.audio/browse_frm/thread/014cec87d1890052/#

Of course, he is not performing a valid experiment and some may still criticise the effort for valid reasons but the case as it stands is significantly more persuasive than if he had simply stated "I can/cannot hear this when I know what is connected" which will persuade almost nobody with any knowledge of the subject.

Of course, it is easy enough to perform a valid blind test as many groups of audio enthusiasts have done over the years but I am assuming you do not want to do this?
