Yes, you are really thoughtful as I wait & wait until someone (i.e. you) comes up here to utter the curtain-down of this dragging-on-&-on
play.

The whole so-called sonic test or "experiment" as you put it, is by itself a joke as the test CDs were written in an uncontrolled & unchecked manner & were not valid already as a test subject to start with.

So whatever outcome were the results basing on something so technically shaky is therefore not valid.

Mind you, I mean the untested CDs are not valid as the test subject. It doesn not imply the sonic test if carried properly on CDs pre-tested identical were invalid.

That's why I already commented below:- if the magazine guy claimed he could detect which type of floors, right or wrong regardless, used to store the CDs under test basing on such invalid test subject, I would be the first guy to challenge him to substantiate his claim as such.
