What "skills" ??

Hi.

Hearing is a human nature. Hearing the difference or not depends on individuals & the playback equipment.

Like John, my elder son, got some razor sense of musical pitch. He can tell in split seconds what pitch the music is being played momentarily, live or canned (reproduced). From B sharp major to F minor, or whatever.

I surely can "validate" his "claims" (my goodness, these two words make me feel flowing up!) by checking him out against the labels on the LP or CD or DVD-audio I am playing. He never fails me.

Yes, right he must get some "skills" of doing so. My only explanation is he is a veteran hobby classical pianist.

Have I also acquired some listening 'telents' or "skills", as I can hear repeatedly numberless of time, the pretty subtle sonic differences among the 10 brands of power cords recorded in a test CD of mine despite till now I never bother to find out what makes or brandnames were these cords. Mind you, it is a 24-bit digital master audiophile grade.

Either I were dreaming or I've got some golden ears & highly resoluted playback gears.

Do I have to both why? NO!
