Re: Why change subject ? Nitpicking or what?

I was comparing 45SE WITHOUT NFB vs SS with (conventionally) NFB.

Likewise, I would ask you: do you need DBTs to confirm the soncic difference between a tube amp & a transistor amp.

Yes...

If you do, I hate to say you better change your hobby to something else where ears are not so involved.

Why, because I do not share your opinion on sighted listening?

May I refer you to Daniel Cheever's Thesis on "Total aural disconsonance (TAD)". To support his analysis, he compared a 45SE power amp w/o NFB vs a SS power amp with NFB.

I have read it and his results are self-fulfilling, I recall clearly he tested only 3 amplifiers and picked a SS amplifier that was notorious for its bad sound.

Does one need DBTs to testify such obvious sonic findings? May be you do, but I don't.

Woodman answered this best...

I contend that there simply is no answer to that one other than the oh so obvious one ... that those who "trust their ears" implicitly cannot trust them unless the ears "know" what they're listening to!

As I justed posted, you consider DBTs infallible?

No, but I consider properly done ones much MORE reliable.
