I am not sure there is anything mysterious about them but they are Todd and Mike who are posting in this thread about their experiences.

I fail to see that being interested in the unusual thought processes of audiophiles is a hostile tone. Certainly their reasoning is different to mine and somewhat irrational when viewed objectively but I can see no threat and consequently have no hostile intentions.

A significant loss of perceived competence leading to a significant loss of sales. Many people buy iPods because they are the conservative choice (like Microsoft) and not only because they are the fashionable choice.

I am not familiar with the innards of ipods but assume they do not have separate D-to-A stages for compressed and uncompressed files. Am I wrong?
