But we don't live in a vacuum. The Teac transport is extraordinarily expensive. As I noted in another post, using that in the Ayre C-5xe would roughly quintuple the price of that player. I seriously doubt that the performance improvement would be anywhere close to the price increase.
As a designer I am always looking at how to achieve the best possible performance for a given price level. I am fairly confident that there are more cost-effective ways to improve the sound quality of a digital player than by using the Teac transport. On the other hand, if there are NO budget restrictions whatsoever it might make sense to use that drive.

Wrong question. Just about any properly functioning CD player will retrieve the bits without error. Remember -- bits are NOT bits....
