Ouch! I don't even want to imagine the sort of high frequency artefacts and noise you will get out of half a nanosecond of jitter ...

That would be the equivalent of say, Mazda, releasing a "sports car" with less power than an average family sedan.

Oh wait, they did that (RX-7) - looks really nice though, I still wish I owned one.

As to my generalization, I do agree that it's a generalization, and the figures of some of the universal transports are close enough to the Sony to be statistically insignificant.

But then the Sony transport itself "is" a modified DVD transport (as all SACD transports are). I guess my generalization was more applicable to CD only vs multi-format players. And it's probably not just the transport itself that causes high jitter, it's more the design required to support multiple sampling rates and the need to synchronize with video.
