That Esoteric Transport is the first, - as far as I understand it, - to use the Magnesium disc-platter.As stated before, - there is a reason why: in that the magnesium disc/platter is the same size as a CD. It is PART of the motor. It grabs a super tight grip on the CD and prevents it from wobbling. This results in less read errors, and that results in more info getting to the rest of the player...
This has been born out in the listening tests. It is easy to discern that this much better transport provides greater detail retrieval, much more info, much more realistic presentation.
Certainly, the DACs, power supplies, clocks, wiring, and more, all play a very critical role in the overall sound.
But, - there has never been a transport like this Esoteric, and the technology is outstanding. The point of the pictures is to elucidate the build quality, - but more importantly, - the MAGNESIUM DISC LOCKING MECHANISM...
