Sorry to say but this is not the case. Every universal player (including yours) uses the same approach simply because there are multiple clock sources and also different digital decoders needed for all different formats. The only thing you can get away with in your player design is to not switch the DSD data and clocks if your DACs feature separate DSD port. If they don’t you have to switch DSD/PCM too. Also, the DVD-A information and CD information come from different decoders/processors so you have to switch those too. In many new designs an FPLD is used to switch clocks and data. It can be also done with regular MUXs.

Bottom line, the format data/clock switching has nothing to do with the reported higher jitter level of the Esoteric.
