Are you saying that this most recent Esoteric transport is engineered significantly better than the older Esoteric transport that I owned? It could be, although the locking mechanism is still named the same (VRDS) which suggests that it is primarily the same technology. Do you know for a fact that it is improved over the older player?Remember what I said which is that even the older transport made by Esoteric, which was engineered very well, cost $4000 and which is $2500 more expensive than my whole Sony DVD/CD/SACD player.... and it really did not outperform it once the Sony was modded.
I suppose that the Esoteric transport could have been modded to be better as well. But I still doubt the sonic improvements of transports based on my own experience. It sure is nice though having a beefier looking transport, even if it might only be for looks. I regretted selling the Esoteric P2 because it was like a Swiss watch in how it opened and closed, and the drawer speed was adjustable (ununnecessary perc, but cool just the same...)
