To quantify, the VRDS-NEO Esoteric X-01's jitter was measured at 520ps on CD, which is higher than any of the players you listed. It's interesting that the two players with the highest jitter were manufactured by Esoteric.

I can't agree with your generalization. The Bel Canto player you listed has relatively low jitter, down at the same general level as the Sonys and the Krell. The Bel Canto uses a Pioneer universal transport. One of the lowest on your list is the TriVista player, and it is indeed a modified DVD transport. It plays CDs, SACDs, and audio-only 2ch DVD-Video "DAD" discs (an undocumented feature of the player). The Unidisk is, of course, a universal transport.
