NEC is not concerned with ground loops unless they are dangerous. NEC's only focus is to provide a safe electrical system, not necessarily an adequate or efficient one. NEC is a subchapter of NFC and is commissioned by NFPA whose loyalty is to insurance companies. Each jurisdiction is free to adopt it or ignore it. Some like New York City have their own electrical codes different from NEC. NEC does not care if your stereo system has a hum due to a ground loop, only that you are not injured or killed and that your electrical system doesn't result in damage. Insurance companies want to pay out as little in claims as possible. When you violate the local electrical code whether it's NEC or otherwise, you do so at your own peril. You take full responsibility for the consequences.
