Learned about it from the nuts over at CA! BTW, ten bucks only gets you a similar 18 gauge version. I have built a number of inexpensive cords.I use two of the cheap Asylum cords on my speaker power supplies. They use a similar 14 gauge Belden 19364 with the beldfoil shield. I have also made a cord based on the 12 gauge Belden 83803 which also has a braid shield.
As good as they are, (unfortunately) they do not compete with the JPS Labs, Kimber Palladian or Harmonic Tech products that I have compared them with.
