In my installation of well over 100 million dollars worth of high tech equipment (maybe over 2,3,4, or 5 hundred million for all I know) from all manner of mainframe computers, entire telephone and data networks, to the most sensitive test and measuring equipment for every conceivable kind of scientific research application in the largest research consorteum in the world spanning nearly 12 years....there was never a single request for a special type of power cord or feeder cable, not even one. Not by the manufacturer, not by the end user, not by the facilities operations management, not anyone. The closest I ever came was the requirement for aluminium conduit to avoid inductive losses for a 400 hz Sperry mainframe which was powered by a motor alternator. But for a crappy stinking little audio amplifier or preamplifier, the heavens have to open up and deliver some exotic electrical manna. This is either testimony to the fantasies of the users or the fact that the equipment itself is inherently junk. Maybe a little of both.
