I'm not going to recite Cheever's many blunders in his paper here again or the fact that the basic thrust of his thesis is to rationalize the personal preferences of a handful of friends and a hobbyist magazine reviewer rather than tested and verifiable improvements in performance by objective DBT of a significantly large population. It's really a waste of time, the entire paper having been written so poorly it's got more holes in it than a wheel of Swiss cheese.
