The transconductance of a typical FET is so different from that of a typical BJT as to make your analogy invalid. The issue of high transconductance i.e. exponential rise only applies to a pure BJT not FETs. And further to that point, FETs are the most popular devices for modern class D designs, as a result, and a FET even when used in analog mode is not subject to behaviour that you describe.
