Re: Why bother?

"So........you can out from underneath that rock you've been hiding under and realize there is a whole other world out there. It's just chock full of transistors."

LOL! Sure it is Danny B. no one said otherwise. They make great highspeed switches, don't they!! They sure do! Makes them there computers work real good now don't it? Controls motors and such real well.

However, what does that have to do with the specific application of music amplification? Not a damn thing, that's what. You are really too funny. The fact that they are still more useful than transistors in AT LEAST one area of electronics suggets that perhaps you were too rash to dismiss them in others. Afterall, it was never proven that they were obsolete just proven they were inconvenient. If the listener is the final arbiter then one could argue they are far from obsolete. The results speak for themselves.

The sad thing is that you have been designing amps for what? 10 years? 15? More? and don't know squat about your primary competition can't even say really how they work or why they may or may not be inferior. I bet even Soundmind can do that. I am sure many SS designers have built at least one piece of tube gear in their lives, just to see what it could do. Are you afraid of being seduced to the "dark side" of the force, Dan?!?!
