And that would be asymetrical harmonic distortion where the distortion levels and components of the positive going half of each cycle would be different from that of the negative going half. This has been reduced or eliminated in the McIntosh design if I follow your explanation. And this would be at levels below clipping which could also be asymetrical due to being closer to saturation on one side than the other resulting from the magnetization from DC offset at no signal.
