OK, so distortion measurements require some weighting to better correlate with what can be heard. So what's new?

On the other hand, I really can't see it favors tubes. Let's take some good tube amps:

As opposed to a good SS amp, whose distortion is an order of magnitude lower at any frequency than the tube amps can muster:
