Ear training

I started lessons on a musical instrument (bass guitar and recently bought an upright) a few years ago. My teacher emphasises ear training and has pointed me to some on-line sources for ear training tools. This training focuses on enhancing the student's ability to recognise and distinguish various intervals (major thirds and minor thirds, fourths and fifths, etc.), scales, and chords.

A student's ability to ID such musical information does improve with practice, which suggests that our ability for long-term memory of some auditory information is "significant" and can be enhanced over time.
